Impact

Through the reBRAINed initiative, we are dedicated to helping families navigate the complexities of long-term illness. Drawing on 15+ years of our own experience with medical crises, hospitalizations, and family disruption, we aim to empower patients and their loved ones to weather these challenges with dignity and strength.

That stressful journey turned us into unofficial consultants, always asking 'what if' and designing a more compassionate rehab experience in our minds.

Instead of just surviving the process, we were busy designing a better one, filling our 'if I built it' file with critical, patient-centered improvements. This file became a blueprint for the future, born from the gaps we saw in the current system.

Beyond our website, we believe the reBRAINed initiative will drive the most significant impact through tailored, intimate, and impactful programming directly within hospitals, ICUs, and care facilities—from specialized one-off events to lasting legacy initiatives.

By engaging our audience where they spend most of their time, we aim to make the care journey more manageable and comforting for patients, families, and their caregivers.

    Inaugural Event

On April 9th, eleven years ago, Matthew received his life-saving heart transplant. With nowhere else to go once he was escorted to surgery after midnight, our family endured a lengthy 14-hour overnight vigil in the hospital waiting room, consumed by profound worry and fatigue.

In honor of this night, and to ease the emotional and financial strain on others in similar circumstances, the reBRAINed initiative covered the overnight room cost for all 22 families staying at Quantum House that night. Quantum House is a non-profit, “home-away-from-home” in South Florida, offering affordable lodging for families with children receiving medical treatment for serious illnesses or injuries.

To further mark this special day, we provided a complimentary, heart-healthy continental breakfast for the families and staff in the lobby from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A truly joyful gathering, the morning gave families, rooted in love, a peaceful space to unwind, connect, and feel fully supported.

Under the reBRAINed initiative, this project advances our core mission to reach families where they are — providing care and support, and helping them restore hope as they navigate chronic illness, calm the chaos, rehabilitate, and reclaim their lives.

    Community Outreach

Running into some of our new friends from Quantum House at the greenmarket a few days later was a happy coincidence that strengthened our newfound bond. It truly underscored the importance of the reBRAINed initiative in building a supportive community for families like ours, almost instantly.

    Coffee Klatch

    noun

    ˈkȯ-fē-ˌklach  -ˌkläch, -ˌkləch, ˈkä-

    variants or less commonly coffee-klatsch

    : kaffeeklatsch

A "coffee klatch" (often misspelled "coffee clutch") is an informal social gathering for conversation, traditionally involving coffee and cakes. Originating from the German word Kaffeeklatsch ("coffee gossip"), it refers to a casual chat, often among friends or community members, used for bonding, networking, or swapping ideas.

A rainy Monday afternoon in May was made brighter as the reBRAINed initiative met with families, sharing in the journey of rehabilitation, caregiving, and daily ongoing chronic health challenges.
