Following each of Matthew's diagnoses, we dedicated hours to investigating each condition, often resulting in misinformation, contradictory findings, and dead ends. The spectrum of medical conditions detailed below represents Matthew's clinical history over the past 16 years. Although he does not exhibit every symptom, he has encountered problems across all of the medical specialties listed. This underscores how multiple co-morbidities can complicate the management of chronic illness over time.

Living with chronic illness is an invisible, isolating journey. It is difficult for others to understand the constant, unseen battles one faces every day. Matthew had to learn the hard way to practice restraint, leaning on Lisa and his medical team to process his health realities so he could protect his friendships from becoming weighed down by his daily struggles.

While his ongoing health battles have fostered his personal growth, Matthew remains defined by his character, and not his condition(s)!
